Briones Street ("Highway"), Mandaue City (across street from San Miguel Brewery) Date of visit: Sept 17, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •San Miguel Beer: P30 small, P65 grande •Soft drink: P30 •Ladies Drink: P100 •Barfine: Negotiate with GRO (personal contract.) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Generally older and not very attractive, but eager to drink and dance with customers. Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Step-down entry, rough concrete disco floor and basic furniture w/ tables, benches and chairs. No aircon. Sleaze & fun factor: Enebriation would facilitate customer enjoyment. Summary: Economical Pinoy disco with GRO's.

Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Generally older and not very attractive, but eager to drink and dance with customers. Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Street-level, basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. No aircon. Sleaze & fun factor: OK Summary: Economical Pinoy disco with GRO's..

 

Club Harem Location: M.C. Briones Street ("Highway"), Mandaue City. Date of visit: September 26, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: P100 weekdays, P200 weekends. •San Miguel Beer: P125 •Soft drink: P127 (* how did they arrive at this price??) •Ladies Drink: P290 •VIP Room: P1500 room charge, plus add ladies drinks. •Barfine: P5000 Dancer / GRO / staff comments: 50+ dancers & GRO's. This reviewer thinks these are the prettiest club girls in greater Cebu. Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Club is on second floor, 2 flights of stairs up. Large central stage with firepole for dancers to enter. Stage surrounded by tables with wire frame chairs, these are in turn surrounded by VIP rooms. Fishbowl on second floor (1/2 way up the stairs) to select girls for VIP room or takeout. Sleaze & fun factor: Most dancers remove at least part of their clothing. Summary: Expensive and "classy" club with many beautiful dancers.. •August 2006 review: "Was at Club Harem last night and was surprised at the amount of great looking girls there. First time i have picked from a fish bowl for someone sit with me for a ladies drink.. Naked show. vip room , two girls, two guys drinking. about 8 ld's (ladies drinks) came to about 4500 peso. Second time to visit in four years. was ok."

 

Goldfinger Location: A.S. Fortuna Street, Mandaue City. Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: P150, consumable •San Miguel Beer: P80 •Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P280 •Barfine: P4000 •VIP Rooms: P750 Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Dancers wear bikinis and number tags. Mamasan/manager aggressive. Music: Loud pop music. Layout / condition of club: Above street-level (ramp entry); large main room with elevated central stage, surrounded by couches. Sleaze & fun factor: Looks like a "show bar." Summary: Very brief visit (didn't even have a drink); this club appears to be targeting well-heeled customers.

 

Jovy's Single Music Bar Location: M.C. Briones Street ("Highway"), Mandaue City (near Maguikay flyover) Date of visit: Sept 23, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •San Miguel Beer: P60 •Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P280 •Barfine: P2700 Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Dancers & mamasan aggressive about seating cutomers and bringing girls to table. Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Street-level; shabby with basic furniture of small tables and hard chairs. Two clubs here: sing-along in front, bikini bar in back. Sleaze & fun factor: Dancer onstage topless. Summary: OK, very brief visit (walkin/walkout.) A (drunken) customer started loudly complaining about the foreigners having visited without ordering drinks.

 

Jovy's Mini Bar Location: A.C. Cortes Street, Mandaue City (Sandwiched between neighbors Smile Angel and Sunrise Angel bars; same owner and prices.) Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •San Miguel Beer: P60 •Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P260 •Barfine: P3500 Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Only few GRO's visible in club. Mamasan aggressive about seating cutomers and bringing girls to table. Music: Louder than neighboring bars. Layout / condition of club: Street-level; smoky and basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: ?? Summary: Similar to neighbor clubs (Smile Angel and Sunrise Angel) but seemed smokier, hotter (air-con not working well?) and with louder music.

 

Liza's Sea Fun Pub Location: B.B. Cabahug Street, Guizo, Mandaue City. *Club is not well marked, look for open driveway along a blank wall, with small sign. May need to drive along B.B. Cabahug Street a few times before you find this place. Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •San Miguel Beer: P50 •Soft drink: P30 •Ladies Drink: P150 •Barfine: P1500 (P700 to bar, P800 to girl); girls will want additional. Dancer / GRO / staff comments: No dancing / I counted 16 attractive female staff (GRO's and waitresses.) Music: 70's / 80's light rock, moderate volume; so it's easy to carry on a conversation if that's your thing. Layout / condition of club: Street-level (wheelchair-accessible.) If you've been visiting nearby Mandaue clubs, this place will shock you: clean, tastefully decorated like a pirate-themed beach bar, with full-size pirate mannequins and comfortable rattan furniture, including semi-private cuddling areas with couches. Sleaze & fun factor: Girls get very friendly in cuddling areas. Summary: Nice club! Friendly and interestingly-decorated; aimed at foreigners. January 10, 2007 review: "Its one of the best bars in Cebu. The prices are moderate and the girls are beautiful. One of my absolute favorites. The bar has a pool table, nice interior and ok music. There is no stage for the girls to dance and no karaoke either. But they do have a couch area where the girls get real friendly. And if you like to go all the way without taking the girl out, you have the VIP room. There are two bad things with this place however. The cr. If you go number one, then its ok. If you need to go number two, then I wish they had proper plumbing for flushing the cr, instead of using a waterbucket with dipper. The other bad thing is that its sometimes hard to get there, because the taxidrivers dont know where it is."

 

Magic Bar Location: B.B. Cabahug Street, Guizo, Mandaue City. Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: P150, consumable. •San Miguel Beer: first beer P120, then additional beers P130 (go figure...) •Soft drinks: None - "We only serve San Miguel." •Ladies Drink: P300 •Barfine: None Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Dancers prettier than most clubs in area (hence, cover charge.) Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Street-level; basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Dancers sometimes dance naked. Summary: Filipino club: foreigners allowed, but not encouraged, to visit.

 

Meghan Disco Bar Location: M.C. Briones Street, Mandaue City (across street from San Miguel Brewery.) Date of visit: Sept 17, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •San Miguel Beer: P30 •Soft drink: P30 •Ladies drink: P100 small, P120 large. •Barfine: P400 (bar share only.) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Generally older and not very attractive, but eager to drink and dance with customers. Music: Loud pop. Layout / condition of club: Street-level, and basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. No aircon. Sleaze & fun factor: OK. Summary: Economical Pinoy disco with GRO's.

Scorpion Pass Bikini Bar Location: M.C. Briones Street, Mandaue City (across street from San Miguel Brewey). Date of visit: Sept 17, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •SMB: P60 •Soft drink: P70 •Ladies Drink: P200 •Barfine: P2500 (P1000 to bar, P1500 to girl) •VIP Rooms: P1000, consumable (quickly changed to P600.) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Aggressive and a few are lookers. Lackluster dancing. Music: Loud pop. Layout / condition of club: Street-level, and basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Aircon barely working. Sleaze & fun factor: Fully-clothed dancing; girls allow cuddling. Summary: Watch out for the scorpions.

 

Sean Bar Location: I believe it's on A.S. Fortuna St. (south of M.C. Briones), Guizo, Mandaue City. Next door to Triple 888 II. Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •SMB: P60 •Soft drink: P30 •Ladies Drink: P200 •Barfine: P2500 (P1250 to bar, P1250 to girl) ("Yes we expensive but the girl here give good service!") Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Aggressive but not so attractive. Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Street-level and small; basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Girl observed dancing topless. Summary: Brief visit (didn't even have a drink): dumpy little dive.

 

Smile Angel Bar Location: A.C. Cortes Street, Mandaue City (same owner and prices as neighboring Jovy's and Sunrise Angel bars.) Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •SMB: P60 •Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P260 •Barfine: P3000 (P1500 to bar, P1500 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Several attractive dancers. Mamasan aggressively pushing ladies drinks. Music: Not as loud as most...pop music. Layout / condition of club: Street-level; basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Nothing special. Summary: Basic Pinoy club, several attractive dancers.

 

Sunrise Angel's Bar Location: A.C. Cortes Street, Mandaue City (same owner and prices as neighboring Smile Angel and Jovy's bars.) Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •SMB: P50 •Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P150 •Barfine: P1700 (P700 to bar, P1000 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Some GRO's with loud and funny attitude. Music: Typical loud pop music. Layout / condition of club: Street-level; basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: ?? Summary: Brief visit, but staff seemed very friendly.

 

Triple 888 II Location: I believe it's on A.S. Fortuna St. (south of M.C. Briones), Guizo, Mandaue City. Date of visit: Sept 3, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •SMB: P60 •Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P150 •Barfine: P2200 (P700 to bar, P1500 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Some dancers very friendly / sometimes topless on stage.. Music: Loud pop. Layout / condition of club: Street-level; small club, small stage, basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Dancers can be a little wild. Summary: This bar is a sleazy little hole, but I almost always have a great time.
