Cebu Club Reviews

Located on Mactan Island a few miles from Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City offers a variety of clubs. These are mostly clustered on Quezon National Highway, which runs nearly the width of the island.

 

Blue Line Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: Sept. 23, 2005. Prices •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: P60, Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P200 •VIP Room: P1300, consumable. •Barfine: P2000 (P1000 to bar, P1000 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: 1 dancer very friendly, others sour; "low to average." Music: OK, not too loud. Layout / condition of club: Street-level, with basic furniture of small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Average for Filipina girlie bar. Summary: OK club, many like this in the Cebu area. •July 2006 review: "Also visited Blue Line. SMB P50, Ladies P200, VIP room P1300. Poor selection of girls, only 3, but pretty. The one I selected was only interested in money. She tried to tell me that Japanese and Caucasian tourists were giving her P2k to P5k for her services. In the VIP she started to negotiate for extra services. Very disappointing. VIP's were a bit bigger (than Jovy's), I could stand up in it, had darkened glass window so you could see the stage." •August 2006 review: "Been in a number of times and the place just does not work for me. It has some good looking girls and friendly enough. A little bit of a bold show from some. Heaps of VIP rooms. One of the most annoying things is the music. The guy has nothing organized and is forever searching through tracks for the right one. This means you get 5 seconds of a dozen different tracks before you finally get one he will play. I have been in their half a dozen times and its always the same. This is truly annoying as we are talking about this process with every song played. This and the warm beer turn me off."

 

Butterfly Mini-Bar Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visits: August 2005. Prices •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: P60, Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P250 first drink, then P200 each. •Barfine: P2700 (P1100 to bar, P1600 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: GRO's aggressive (customer pants zippers were opened upon entry to club) and promise that "We give good service!" Music: Loud Layout / condition of club: Street-level; very dark, with basic furniture of small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Girls appear ready for fun; yet, no other customers at time of visit. Summary: Small, friendly dive. •November 2005 review: "A number of pretty girls working here. Barfine still P2700, but Mamasan said this is 'negotiable.' " •August 2006 review: "Much the same format as next door (could be same owner again). It’s a bar that is always empty. Have not seen a bold show here. So much so that there is often no music or dancer and these are quickly put into action when you walk inside. Had a great little girl in this bar. Taking out is something like 3000 pesos."

 

Cadilack Cafe Location: Basak-Marigondon Road, Mactan Island. *Was closed for 6 months due to a fire, but has been open again since February 2006. •March 2006 review: "Anyone who has not visited Cadillac Café, over on Mactan, have missed a rare treat. Californian, Neal has gone to great lengths to ensure the live band experience @ Cadillac Café, is the best in Cebu. "So why has Cadillac Café been shut for 6 months? The answer is because it has had a refit - all of the upstairs area has been done up. It now sports an attractive bar one can sit out and cosy soft carpeted areas with comfy settees and subdued lighting. Even the Pool table has cold cathode lighting set under the 'cushions' so it looks cool' when the tables overhead lights are off during band sessions. There is also CR's for both 'Dong' and 'Dai' upstairs. Downstairs the changes are more subtle - like the cushioned vinyl wall coverings by the stairs. "Our current operations schedule will be maintained as Friday and Saturday nights for rock & roll music, dancing and great food. Our garden area is open daily for beer and other drinks as well as chips and other snacks. Play hooky from work or school and stop by the Cadillac's garden area for a cold beer today!" •January 2007 review: "Cadillac Cafe got lots of cute waitresses. You can buy them ladies drinks for 175 Pesos. But this is not a bikini bar. After flirting intensively I was only able to get a kiss on the cheek. But I also got the phone number. Hehehe There is no barfine here. You are supposed to behave nicely and just talk to the ladies. And invite them to the dancefloor if you like."

 

Chicken Legs Mini-Bar Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visits: August 23, 2005 & November 9, 2005. *Sister bar to Butterfly Bar (next door): same prices, similar layout and comments. •January 2006 review: "Mineral water-60 pesos, Lady drink- 250 peso. Sleazy little native style bar near the Lapu Lapu terminal- with 5 or 6 mostly chubby high mileage dancers. Girls get 0 days off a month. Work 8PM to 3:30AM. Get paid 100 pesos a shift. 100 peso 'penalty' if they fall asleep- Penalty for late, etc. 2700 peso barfine. (1300 to girl). SCAM ALERT: THIS IS NOT FOR 'LONG TIME'!! MAMASAN MAKES GIRL COME BACK TO CLUB PRONTO- Barfine probably negotiable.- Find out if it's coming out of the girl's share." •August 2006 review: "Very similar to D'Rising Angel and Evening Bar (same owner I believe) but I do not go there. Hit me with big drink pressure the few times I was in there, which I can deal with, but they ignored my refusal for a fresh round of drinks before I had two swallows of my own beer. Too much bullshit so I don’t go there."

 

D'Rising Angel's Bar Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 23, 2005 Prices •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: P60 •Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P260 •Barfine: P2800 (P1400 to bar, P1600 to girl.) •VIP room: Yes (forgot to ask the price) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Attractive dancers, mamasan aggressive about tabling girls. Music: Loud Layout / condition of club: Street level, two steps down into club, basic furniture of small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Some dancers go topless and offer quick views of downunder. Summary: Club seems to be aiming at higher-end Asian customers (Korean & Japanese.) •August 2006 review: "OK Some bold dancing and can get a bit wild. If the drinks are flowing and they are comfortable about the other customers around, sample BJ's can happen. If there is a big group of Filipino men in they are not comfortable with then they will be far more conservative. Taking out is expensive - can not recall exactly how much. Most Filipinos use the VIP rooms. For about 1100 (give or take a 100) you can *** them in the VIP room. That pays for a few LD's. No bed - just table and chair."

 

Evening Bar Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 23, 2005 Prices •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: 60, soft drink: 60 •Ladies Drink: unknown •Barfine: unknown. Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Aggressive / not very attractive. Music: ?? Layout / condition of club: Street-level and small, has basic furniture. Sleaze & fun factor: Not assessed. Summary: Very brief visit, no judgement made. •August 2006 review: "Much the same as D'Rising Angel except the girls seem to be older and not as attractive. I have stopped going there because of this."

 

Frolics Location: Basak-Marigondon Road (?), Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 2006 Prices •Cover charge: unknown •San Miguel: unknown, soft drink: unknown •Ladies Drink: unknown •Barfine: P700 "Just up from More 2 is Frolics. This is really the best bar on Mactan for foreigners. Its more like a Mango bar and is run by the guy that had Exotica before. Took some of the girls with him. The girls have good attitudes. Barfines are 700 I think compared with the 2000 to 3000 the Filipino bars want."

 

Grand Stage Bikini Bar Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City (next door to Mermaid.) Date of visit: November 9, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: None •San Miguel: P60, Soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P240 •Barfine: P3500 (half to bar, half to girl.) •VIP Room: None Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Generally very attractive female staff, several of whom said they were new and that this was their first job in a bar. All the male bar staff appear to be gay ("bayut.") Music: VERY LOUD. Nearly impossible to talk. Layout / condition of club: Street-level, in a new building. Club is in good condition, with a central stage and comfortable leatherette couches. Sleaze & fun factor: Pretty clean...dancers performing fully clothed. Summary: The male staff are gay...but the dancers/GRO's are straight females, and the target audience is straight men looking to be entertained by women. •August 2006 review: "Is next door to Mermaids and very similar. Nice looking girls also and a little bit more friendly. Again I have never taken a girl and I suspect it would be expensive. Do not go upstairs as it’s a gay bar."

Guerrero's Place Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 23, 2005 Prices •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: 60, soft drink: 60 •Ladies Drink: P150 small, P200 large. •Barfine: P1600 (P600 to bar, P1000 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Aggressive / not very attractive. Music: LOUD. Layout / condition of club: Street-level and small, has couches. Sleaze & fun factor: Not assessed. Summary: Very brief visit, no judgement made. •August 2006: This bar now has a 'Disco' sign out front, so may have changed format from sing-along to dancing.

 

Heidelberg (Crash Pub) Location: somewhere in Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 2006 "Been around for more than 20 years. Had the same owners and I always liked the place. It was sold last year and the new owner is an arrogant asshole. It now has GRO’s and they are just regular girls – nothing to get excited about but attitude is ok. No real drink pressure. Spoke recently to a girl that left. She said the owner is “High Blood” Hope he has a heart attack soon or fucks off. Give the place a big miss." •January 2007 review: "Heidelberg also got some GROs. They work from 8pm to 3am. There are only 3 of them. When I was there Saturday, one was barfined allready and the second was sick. The third was nice looking however. Ladies drinks are 100 Pesos. Beer 35. They are open 24 hours and also serv ok food. You can have a 3 hour shorttime with one of the girls in the rooms upstairs. 250 for the room and 1500 for the girl. Then if you feel like it you can tip extra to the girl, but its not required."

 

Jovy's Disco Bar Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: September 23, 2005 Prices •Cover charge: none •Table charge: P50 •San Miguel: P60, soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P260 •Barfine: P3000 (P1500 to bar, P1500 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Dancers & mamasan aggressive about sitting down & tabling GRO. Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Street-level, shabby, basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Eh... Summary: Average Pinoy bikini bar. •November 2005 review: "Barfine raised from P2500 to P3000. Dancers appear more attractive than on previous visit." •July 2006 review: "Visted Jovy's twice around June 14 and July 2 this year. Happy to report that things were Very Wild there. SMB P60 Ladies P260 first and P200 following, VIP P800, yes they have VIP rooms. They will try to ask more for VIP but the local price is P800. VIP's are dingy, dirty, dark and small with only an electric fan chairs and table. But anything goes and table was sturdy. Girls were Attractive, very friendly, and very naughty. Had a great time." •August 2006 review: "Only went in there once and got hit with a big drink scam and have not been keen to go back. May have only been the girls that sat with me. Just have not felt like giving it another try."

 

Mermaid Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 2005 Prices •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: P60, soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P240 •Barfine: P1500 for 3 hours Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Dancers pretty and a little "remote; mamasans aggressively marketing ladies drinks. Music: VERY LOUD. Layout / condition of club: Street-level "show bar" with large, well-lit stage and big, comfortable couches. Sleaze & fun factor: Loud and boring. Summary: Big, loud, and boring with nice couches. •November 2005 review: Brief visit, no apparent changes. •August 2006 review: "Up market place with nice girls. Korean and Japanese are brought by tourist guides. The girls seem aloof at first (its that Asian thing because the bar is primarily catering for Korean and Japs). Get to know a couple of girls and they are friendly. I have not even tried to take a girl from there but I suspect its very expensive."

 

More Disco Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 23, 2005 Prices •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: P60, soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P200 •Barfine: P2500 Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Friendly. Music: Loud Layout / condition of club: Street-level, basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Sleaze & fun factor: Naked dancer. Summary: Brief visit; club very full, all other customers Pinoy. •August 18, 2006 review: "Some very attractive girls and they also do some bold show. The attitude and service in this bar totally sucks. You could sit for an hour with an empty beer and they would not come to you. They are too busy talking or watching the show. This is not the observation from a few visits. I had a girl friend there and was in every other night for a couple of months. The girls also ignore customers. They have that aloof I am dancing or sitting here alone. I got to know them and this changed for me but I was still able to observe it. The bottom line is the girls have attitudes in that bar."

 

More Disco Pub 2 Location: Basak-Marigondon Road, Mactan Island, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: July 31, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: none •San Miguel: P60, soft drink: P60 •Ladies Drink: P200 •Barfine: P2500. Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Only 1 dancer seen in club at 8:45pm Friday; bartender said more girls later. Music: Loud. Layout / condition of club: Clean-appearing club, small well-lit stage, nice wire-frame chairs & tables. Sleaze & fun factor: Not assessed, very brief visit. Summary: OK, very brief visit (walkin/walkout.) •November 9, 2005 review: This time we stayed for a few drinks. A number of pretty girls at the club, several of whom went topless while dancing. Mamasan/Girls did not approach our table to ask to sit down. •August 2006 review: "Same owner as More Disco but has a different culture. The girls are friendlier and the bar is a bit nicer than most of the other Filipino bars. Small and the girls don’t seem to do any bold showing like More Disco. Attitudes are definitely better. Surprising considering girls transfer between the two."

 

Ned Kelly's Tavern *Formerly named Treeline, and before that, Job Club. Location: Basak-Marigondon Road, Mactan Island, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: November 9, 2005 Prices: •Cover charge: None •San Miguel: P40, soft drink: P20 •Ladies Drink: P120 •Barfine: P1500 •VIP Room: None Dancer / GRO / staff comments: About five pretty girls, all of whom appeared young but insisted they were at least 18 years old.....uh-huh. Music: Sing-along during our brief visit. Layout / condition of club: Street-level, basic furniture w/ small tables and hard chairs. Large stage, but no dancing during our visit. Sleaze & fun factor: ??? Summary: Inexpensive club, but how old are the female staff? •August 2006 review: "New name for an existing bar. Its just another Filipino bar. Been in a few times and purchased some drinks for different girls but nothing exciting. Foreign owned but caters for Filipinos." •January 2007 review: "Went to Ned Kellys the other night. Lacking a little to become a nice expat place. Not much, but enough. Need to replace their plastic chairs with more comfortable furniture and bring in more girls. Saturday night and 3 girls just doesnt cut it. But one of the girls were really nice looking. The ladies drink was 200 Pesos. Vip room, including 3 ladies drinks and a beer cost 1200 Pesos. 1000 Pesos extra for full package. The vip have no aircon! Its like being in a sauna!"

 

Princess Club Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City. Date of visit: August 23, 2005 Prices •Cover charge: P150, consumable •San Miguel: P75, soft drink: P75 •Ladies Drink: P200 for 30 min, P265 hourly •Barfine: P3000 (P1500 to bar, P1500 to girl) Dancer / GRO / staff comments: Many pretty girls, aggressive mamasans. Music: LOUD Layout / condition of club: Street-level; large and clean, with comfortable couches and disco-type lighting. Sleaze & fun factor: Show was "clean" Summary: Nice club, appears to be aimed at well-heeled Asian tourists (Korean & Japanese.)

Tarzan Boy Location: Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City (upstairs from Mermaids.) *Awaiting Review / This is a gay bar.

 

White Castle (?) Location: near the airport, Lapu-Lapu City "There is one going towards the airport called White Castle or something similar. This is in its own building which might be described as a small mansion. There are apparently 200 girls inside. I have visited but was not able to count the girls. Certainly no shortage. This place compares to Arena, Jaguar etc and follows much the same format. Not sure about the shows. Will return when I have some friends to take with me." Webmaster's note: Have not verified the existence, location or even the name of this bar. Hopefully somebody will find it, visit and report back so I can post a reivew here.
